Description

CCNE1 encodes Cyclin E1, a regulatory subunit of cyclin-dependent kinase 2 (CDK2) that controls the G1 to S phase transition of the cell cycle. Cyclin E1 binds and activates CDK2, promoting phosphorylation of key substrates such as retinoblastoma protein (RB1) to drive cell cycle progression.
